Let's Simplify

To show as many images as possible I've created a separate page(s) for most of my earlier paintings.  That way it won't require endless scrolling to see my image portfolio.  I'll be adding to these pages on a regular basis so drop by every so often and check them out.  The pages can be found by clicking on the page titles in the column on the right.

Xmas Newspaper

18 x 24 Acrylic on Canvas
This painting of mine called "Winter Apple" was featured as the cover page of the Parksville Qualicum News paper Christmas Edition in full colour.  A nice boost to receive such prominent exposure for my art.  It's always good to get some local recognition.

Totems Reconnect

12 x 24 Acrylic on Canvas
Prior to the Gossip painting I completed a series of totem pole paintings inspired by the works of aboriginal artists from the Westcoast of British Columbia.  This painting depicts a Snuneymuxw First Nations pole that had succumbed to age and decay. It was laid to rest through a reconnection ceremony during which it was placed on the ground in a visible location to return to the earth close to the site where it stood for so many years.

The Crows come out again!

20 x 20 Acrylic on Canvas
During my periods of inspiration I keep flashing back to images of these wonderful birds.  Though not possessed by the thought, they reappear in my paintings on a regular basis.  This latest work which is just completed I've titled "Gossip on the Edge" and is a followup to two other paintings in the gossip series.  Hope you enjoy!

An Introduction.

As this my first blog to share some of my artwork, a short introduction is in order.

I was born and raised in rural Ontario. I have enjoyed painting as a hobby since the 1970's and I was an active member of the Orillia Ontario Guild of Artists.
My Professional life was spent as a Registered Nurse in several hospitals and northern outposts in Canada, as well as specializing in Intensive Care & Coronary Care Nursing at a major hospital in Victoria, B.C.

I studied art at the University of Victoria in the fine arts program prior to moving to Qualicum Beach, B.C. (on Vancouver Island) in 1989 and now, with my husband Bill, own THE GALLERY @ QUALICUM ART SUPPLY.

After moving to Qualicum Beach I began painting in Watercolours and then more recently in Acrylics.

Since becoming an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists in 2002, I have been accepted to shows at the Federation Gallery in Vancouver, the Malaspina College Art Gallery in Nanaimo, the Oceanside Art Gallery in Parksville and the Old Schoolhouse Gallery in Qualicum Beach.

In March 2008,  I was granted Associate Signature Status by the Federation of Canadian Artists.

Over the past decade my work has been sold through many venues as well as through our own Gallery in Qualicum Beach.  My paintings grace private collections in  Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Nunavut, and British Columbia.
